It was the beginning of a three game homestand for the Vermilion County Bobcats as they hosted the Knoxville Ice Bears at David S. Palmer Arena. This would be the first time both teams would take the ice together. It was the visitors taking the lead halfway thru the first to go on for the 7-1 victory.
Davis Kirkendall got the goal scoring started as he was fed a beautiful pass behind the net from Vadim Vasjonkin, his 4th goal of the season at 7:25 of the first period. Knoxville answered with two of their own to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room. Both teams were not able to capitalize on the man advantage as well.
Knoxville would then go on to score one more goal in the second and four more in the third to win their 11th game of the season. Vermilion County record is now 3-14-1-0. Brett Epp made 29 out of 36 saves to see his record fall to 1-8 on the season.
The next home game for the Bobcats is tonight as they host the Knoxville Ice Bears at 7 PM. Then on Sunday it’s the Peoria Rivermen making another visit to the Den at 4 PM. Santa will be at the game to take pictures with the kids, and after the game there will be a post-game skate with the team.
