In their final home game of 2022, the Vermilion County Bobcats fell to the Peoria Rivermen 5-2 on a Sunday afternoon.
The Rivermen got on the board first at 4:07 of the first period. The Bobcats tied the game up when Vadim Vasjonkin fed a pass to Davis Kirkendall on the left side zone and his shot was deflected by TJ Sneath in front of Peoria's starting goalie Eric Levine for his 4th goal of the season. Vermilion County also had three power plays that created some great chances, but were not able to capitalize on.
The second period saw Peoria have a flurry of shots against starting goalie Brett Epp. The Rivermen outshout Vermilion County 21-6. The visitors also got on the board early in the second. The Bobcats did tie the game at 2-2 fifty-seven seconds later, when former Rivermen Tyler DIll received a beautiful pass cross-ice from Austin Albrecht as he was streaking down the right slot for his second goal of the season. Peoria took the lead for good later in the period and finished the game scoring two more in the third period to secure their league leading 14th win of the season.
Brett Epp faced 48 shots, stopping 43 in the loss. His record is now 1-9-0. The Bobcats were blanked on the power play over the weekend. They are also on a three game losing streak.
Vermilion County looks to get in the win column this week as they take on Quad City on Thursday at 6:10 PM and Friday and 7:10 PM. Both games will be online at hockeytv.com and streaming online audio on the home page of the website.
