FISHERS, IN-- For the first time in the franchise's young history, skaters wearing Bobcats sweaters hit the ice.
And boy, did it feel good.
Twenty-seven players filled the Fuel Tank at Fishers, official practice facility of the ECHL's Indy Fuel, in hopes of earning an invitation to Vermilion County Bobcats Main Camp in October. Head coach Mike Watt, owner Ellen Tully and other Bobcats staff members were on hand to evaluate the proceedings, as well as former SPHLer and Director of High Performance Training Chris Affinati, Geoff Bullock of Bullock Hockey Concepts and Indy Fuel head athletic trainer George Bullock.
Friday night featured a two-hour practice with the 27 players, seven of them goalies. Two exhibition games followed Saturday morning and afternoon, with a final showcase held Sunday morning. Players were gifted a Bobcats drawstring bag with a practice jersey, matching socks, rolls of Howie's Hockey Tape and a myriad of Gatorade products included as part of their registration.
Bobcats head coach Mike Watt confirmed that there will be players from the Free Agent Camp invited to join Main Camp, to be announced at a later point.
Season tickets for the Vermilion County Bobcats' first season are on sale now. The full 2021-22 schedule is viewable by clicking here.
